Media session 4 – Unconventional Prop shoot

In this session we explored non fashion items that could be developed into fashion relevant content  and ideas. Carlyn provided us with many different options for props and we were supposed to select different props and shoot them in an unconventional manner. We were also shown examples of what kind of outcomes are expected.

I partnered up with my friend Kaushiga and we chose a broken chandelier, wooden frames, fabrics, fur, a candle stand, candles and a trench coat for styling. Kaushiga modelled for the pictures and both of us creative directed and styled the products. We got interesting shots with the props and played with the arrangements. We also took a few shots keeping her shoes in the focus with the props around it. The outcomes were good and had a neutral colour palette. Everything blended well together. After the photoshoot we edited the pictures pictures separately. I added a blur motion to the pictures and tried to show different movements of the props. I wanted to give out the message that everything keeps fading away and moving forward but memories is all we have. I  was happy with the editing and enjoyed the process.
